Peggy Courtney had been a Sylmar Neighborhood Council member for several years. This last term she had decided not to run for re-election. Her job had a change and they needed her more than ever. She is an Educator, so while we missed her we knew she was giving her time and love to our community's children. Even at that time, it was not a goodbye for us. Peggy liked to work and help ALL people She needed to help people. Peggy accepted the position as Chairperson of the Sylmar Neighborhood Council's Homeless Service's Committee. She has done so much in helping our community (those with homes & those without) She has organized and worked many "Homeless Connect Days", "The Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count" so many other sessions some filled with debates, education, some frustration but all left with the knowledge of her dedication and endless love and support for all those in need.
Well... The time has come as Peggy is having to step down as Chair due to family issues. (I guess her family deserves to enjoy her!!) At the January full board meeting of The Sylmar Neighborhood Council, the Council, along with other elected officials and a room of Sylmarians, got to give praise, proclamations, and certificates of thanks for a job well done. We are filled with appreciation for the amount of time we had you. AND we are hopeful that some time may clear up and we can once again walk along your side seeing that all stakeholders in Sylmar are treated with compassion and hope.
Thank you so much, Peggy!
